About Us:
Shady Vale is a small homestead located in Yellville Arkansas near the National River on 7 acres of wooded private property.It is home to two main breeds of chickens, the Black Copper Marans and Shady Vale's own Easter Egger.
This homestead boasts of natural beauty with snow blanketed evergreens in the winters,and Bearded Iris' and Daffodils in the spring. In coexistence with its wildlife, squirrels, deer and many other creatures know Shady Vale as their safe haven. They have no fear of danger and forage freely.
Shady Vale Homestead is a supporter of self sufficiency and encourages the old ways of trade and barter amongst its fellow homesteaders. Its goals are to strengthen the interconnectivity of the local community while growing its relationships with neighbors.

Q: When will you have chicks and laying hens again?
A: Chicks are here in the Spring from March to May. Hens are through random availability.
Q: Do you ship chicks and adult chickens?
A: No, Chicks and other live birds are pickup only at Shady Vale.
Q: Are you a hatchery?
A: No, Shady Vale is a hobby farm and does not produce mass quantities of anything.
Q: Do you accept donations?
A: Yes, we do not profit here at Shady Vale. Everything goes back into the homestead. Donations are very much appreciated!
Q: What is a Shady Vale Easter Egger?
A: The Shady Vale Easter Egger is my own curated line produced from a multiple year program that focuses on a natural, but gentle holistic approach. They bear resemblance to Ameracauna or (Americana) in Blue,Black or Splash, and produce beautiful pastel colored eggs.
Q: Do you vaccinate your chicks?
A: My chickens are raised as naturally as possible, with little to no antibiotics, medications or vaccinations. This results in strong hearty birds (landrace).
Q: Can I message you if I have any questions about raising my chickens?
A: I am here to help where I can, but please understand I am not perfect and I learned everything through personal experience. I encourage you to fully research before making the decision of getting chickens.
